May the Lord of mankind open unto you the gates of His mercy and may He so ordain that you are always accompanied by the supplication of His angels. Ameen.
Water is essential for life, and yet, more than 30% of people in Africa cannot access safe drinking water and over 40% lack proper sanitation. These factors lead to increasing disease and premature deaths. This, of course, is no news to Ahmadis of African provenance as we have seen and witnessed this first hand. We have seen our fellow Africans walking for miles to gain access to water. We have seen that for many parts of African pipe-borne water supply remains but a pale shadow of a remote possibility.
Ramadhan teaches us to empathise with the less poor and the marginalised; to share in their privations and suffering. It is therefore with anticipation that I launch our first ever fundraising campaign in the guise of a Water for Life Ramadhan appeal.
Working in partnership with Humanity First, we shall, Insha’Allah, raise funds for its Water for Life programme to ensure that deprived communities of Africa are given access to sustainable clean water supply.
